Another day in quarantine. Another TikTok challenge. This one is arguably the best yet. Rather than making a cup of whipped coffee or a 3-ingredient White Claw slushie, people are baking frog bread!
What Is Frog Bread?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: a loaf of bread in the shape of a four-legged amphibian. It’s not as complicated as you might think, either. You don’t have to be a pro baker (or a pro sculptor) to make this.
How to Make Frog Bread at Home
You can use almost any sourdough, Italian or similar yeast-based bread recipe to make frog bread. Follow the bread recipe to make your dough. Then, let rise in a warm place until doubled.
Now comes the hard part—shaping it into something that at least resembles a frog. Start with a larger chunk of dough and shape it into an oval to form the frog’s body. Then add two back legs and two front legs (along with feet) using smaller pieces of dough. Finally, roll two small balls and stick them on top of your “frog” to create the eyes.
Don’t forget to carve a smile into your frog’s face with a butter knife before you bake it, too, for maximum cuteness.

How to Bake Your Frog Bread
Now that your creation is shaped, it’s time to bake. You can brush the frog bread with an egg wash, then bake it at 350° for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
The result should be a toasty, perfectly fluffy frog bread. Even if it doesn’t turn out as you’d like (there have been some pretty hilarious fails on TikTok so far), it will still taste delicious and let’s be honest, that’s all that matters!
