Ah, Oreos! You can never tire of a classic that’s always serving up something new. From seasonal Apple Cider Donut Oreos and decadent Tiramisu Oreos, to the surprisingly collectible Pokemon Oreos, milk’s favorite cookie is always keeping us on our toes.
However, while we love all the new Oreo flavors, we can’t help but want our nostalgic lunchbox snacks back, too. That’s why we were so excited to discover that Nabisco is finally bringing back Oreo Cakesters! It only took 10 years for Cakesters to make a triumphant return.
What Happened to Oreo Cakesters?
The original Oreo Cakesters debuted in 2007. Like a whoopie pie, the Cakesters were soft chocolate snack cakes with vanilla creme sandwiched in the middle. This popular treat was taken off shelves in 2012, much to fans’ dismay. There doesn’t seem to be a reason the Cakesters were discontinued, though some speculated that the original recipe was simply less popular than people thought. Well, apparently enough people have sent fan mail to Nabisco that Oreo Cakesters are back—and we couldn’t be more pleased!
Oreo Cakesters Will Be Back in 2022
If you’ve never tried Oreo Cakesters, we’re a little bit jealous that you get to experience this deliciousness for the first time. Think cake sandwich—each Cakester has sweet filling stuffed between two soft snack cakes. It tastes like a cookie and melts in your mouth like cake—what could be better?
The classic Oreo Cakesters have a vanilla creme filling between two chocolate-flavored snack cakes. But that’s not the only Cakester that’ll be on shelves. We’re also going to see Nutter Butter Cakesters, with peanut butter filling sandwiched between two snack cakes.
Where Can I Buy Oreo Cakesters?
You can’t get Oreo Cakesters and Nutter Butter Cakesters until 2022, but luckily, that’s only a few months away. The good news is that they’ll be available is grocery stores and convenience stores nationwide, and they’ll be a part of the permanent Oreo lineup.
If you can’t wait till then, follow Oreo on Instagram and keep an eye out for updates—you might be able to win free samples before the official release! Or, of course, you could make chocolate whoopie pies at home. And don’t forget to grab the new Oreos coming out in 2022!
