I plan to order Taco Bell's new garlic sauce by the gallon.

I Ordered Taco Bell’s Steak Garlic Nacho Fries, and I Have Thoughts

Before reviewing anything from Taco Bell, it’s important to define “good.” To Live Mas, one must understand that Taco Bell exists on a separate plane from all other cuisines. It is not Mexican food. It’s not Tex-Mex, Southwestern or Cali cuisine. It is Taco Bell.
The new Steak Garlic Nacho Fries are one of the more straightforward inventions from the test kitchens at Taco Bell. It doesn’t attempt to shatter the laws of fast-food physics by wrapping itself in a cheese quesadilla or adding Doritos. It’s simply fries covered in a whole bunch of stuff, and as America’s foremost fast-food critic, it’s my job to find out if that stuff is legitimately delicious.
What are Steak Garlic Nacho Fries?
Steak Garlic Nacho Fries begin with Nacho Fries, which are fries that have been tossed in a generous amount of Mexican spices. They’re topped with bits of Taco Bell’s signature steak, shredded cheddar and nacho cheeses, fresh pico de gallo and a brand-new creamy garlic ranch sauce made with garlic and jalapeno peppers.
Are Steak Garlic Nacho Fries good?
Even though I almost always love everything Taco Bell does, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much from the Steak Garlic Nacho Fries. While I do love fries of all sorts, especially loaded ones, they’re not the sort of thing I’d ordinarily go to Taco Bell for. Fries are for the burger guys, not the Bell.
However, I was beyond pleasantly surprised. In fact, the Steak Garlic Nacho Fries were so good that I’ve entirely changed my position on adding fries to Taco Bell’s menu. They’re unimaginably messy to eat, as all loaded fries worth their salt should be. Helpfully, they’re served with a fork, so you don’t need to get nacho cheese all over your hands and pants unless you want to.
The most exciting part of this limited-time offering is the garlic sauce. A brand-new addition to the Taco Bell arsenal, it’s ferociously garlicky and very, very good. I’m praying that Taco Bell plans to keep it around and will use it on everything they can.
How long are Steak Garlic Nacho Fries at Taco Bell?
Garlic Steak Nacho Fries dropped nationwide on January 16, so you can get your hands on them now for a mere $4.99. Taco Bell hasn’t announced when this item will leave us, but historically, its special items stick around for about six weeks unless supplies run out sooner.
