How to Choose Matching Halloween Pajamas

We’re not going to sugarcoat it—it’s not going to be easy to choose among the matching Halloween pajamas designs. There are classic patterns, like Spooky Smiles which features ghosts and Halloween Night that are orange with black bats. The mommy and me colorful pumpkin emsembles add a chic, modern touch to the holiday.

And there are also plenty of fun licensed patterns, like Peanuts family pajamas with Snoopy sleeping on top of a jack-o’-lantern, Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas outfits and Star Wars spiderweb PJs.

It’s hard to go wrong with any of the offerings, but you’ll want to shop soon so you get your favorite set before they sell out.

What Other People Are Saying

If there’s one thing many Hanna Andersson shoppers agree on, it’s that the brand’s pajamas are high-quality and the ultimate comfortable outfit.

“Our 18-month-old granddaughter was so excited to open this and wear it,” writes Stella K., a verified purchaser. “She really got into ghosts this Halloween, so we could barely get it washed between wears. As usual, the quality is top notch, it washes up beautifully. Thanks, Hanna!”

“I love my Hannas,” says Senior Shopping Editor Katie Bandurski. “They’re so soft, comfy and the perfect weight for chilly fall weather. You also can’t beat the cute colors and fun patterns. I love that they hold up really well in the wash, too.”

Janet C., a five-star reviewer, shares, “This spooky ghost pajama set is just as great fitting and looking as the other two Hanna jam sets I have purchased. Fit is spot-on (large) and SO soft and comfortable and well made! Not at all ‘nighttime pajama only’ wear! I wore this very appropriately to a Halloween party and no one thought they were pajamas.”

The post The Home Depot’s Giant Skeleton Is Back in Stock—But Not for Long! appeared first on Taste Recipes.

]]>
The Home Depot first introduced its giant skeleton to the world in 2020. And ever since, it has sold out almost as fast as you can say “scream.”

If you’ve been dying (pun intended) to get your hands on the viral 12-foot Giant-Sized Skeleton with LifeEyes, we have some good news. Home Depot just restocked—but you have to act fast if you want to add this haunting factor to your front lawn.

What is a giant skeleton?

The giant skeleton is a Halloween decoration from The Home Depot’s in-house brand, Home Accents Holiday. It stands at 12 feet tall and has glowing, animated LCD eyes that move and blink. It was designed for indoor or outdoor use, but it’s certainly more fun if you show it off so even your neighbors down the street can see it.

You won’t have to worry about turning Skelly, as customers like to lovingly call him, on and off, because it has a timer function (six hours on, 18 hours off). What we love about the giant skeleton is that while, yes, it’s huge and scary, it’s not so terrifying that trick-or-treaters will hesitate to ring your doorbell. And, to keep the fun going, some people leave their skeleton up all year and dress it up for other holidays, like Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.

12-Foot Skelly

Take your Halloween decor to the next level with this massive 12-foot skeleton from The Home Depot.

How to Set Up a Giant Skeleton

The Home Depot details that it takes about two people and 60 minutes to set up the giant skeleton. You can find specific instructions on the retailer’s website. It comes with a metal frame and ground stakes to hold it in place, and when it’s all put together, it weighs 88.7 pounds. To get the white lights going for the animated eyes, simply plug it in to an outlet or use the included battery.

While the 12-foot skeleton doesn’t stand quite as high as last year’s 13-foot Jack Skeleton and isn’t as wide as the terrifying 12.5-foot Predator of the Night, Skelly is a classic that you’ll break out year after year.

What Other People Are Saying

From nearly 1,300 reviews on The Home Depot, the giant skeleton has an average of 4.7 out of five stars. Here’s what real-life buyers have to say:

“Waited three years to be able to get this Halloween decoration. Exceeded all expectations. 10/10 A+ would recommend. Everyone stops to take a picture, too,” shares Anthony, a five-star reviewer.

Linda, a verified purchaser, says, “Everything I was hoping it would be! Assembly was quick and simple. The eyes seem to follow you, which adds to the creep factor. Wish I could convince my husband to decorate it for other holidays and keep it out year-round!”

“We got our 12-foot friend almost a year ago, and he has stood in our wooded backyard the entire time. He lasted through the different Pocono seasons and the wildlife,” writes Amy B., a five-star reviewer. “The base and wires have been great at keeping him standing. It’s been cool to look outside every day and see him. He looks cool with snow on him.”

FAQs

Will Home Depot have the 12-foot skeleton again?

It’s official: The giant skeleton will be making a spooky return in 2024. Home Depot recently teased its Halloween offerings during a recent Store Managers meeting and confirmed that this supersized staple will be restocked. (Try saying that five times fast!) Rumor has it that this year’s version will have an upgraded LCD and eight adjustable settings to bring a spine-tingling treatment to your home. That said, we have a sneaking suspicion this skeleton will sell out fast, so you won’t want to dilly-dally.

How much did Home Depot charge for 12-foot skeleton?

Despite its new-and-improved features, you can still get the 12-foot skeleton for $299. This Halloween decor does elicit a bit of sticker shock. But between its glowing reviews and high-quality construction, this is one eery investment that’s built to last.

How much does the 12-foot skeleton weigh?

Don’t let it’s gigantic form fool you: This skeleton is surprisingly lightweight. When attached to its metal frame and ground stakes, this bounty of bones weighs only 90 pounds.

How long does it take to put up the 12-foot skeleton?

Despite its easy-to-follow, color-coded directions, this supersized skeleton will take about an hour to assemble. (Psst…to make this process a little easier, some people recommend starting from the feet and working your way up!)

The Home Depot has introduced a 13-foot Jack Skellington for Halloween 2023.

Between The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus, Disney sure knows how to make an iconic Halloween movie. When it comes to the spooky holiday, Jack Skellington is a well-known, beloved character—and might inspire a themed Halloween recipe or two. The Home Depot is making the skeleton larger than ever with its new 13-foot animated Jack Skellington decoration.

What is the Jack Skellington decoration?

Standing at a monstrous 13 feet tall—that’s even bigger than The Home Depot’s viral 12-foot skeleton!—the Jack Skellington decoration will make a serious statement on your front lawn. The Pumpkin King wears his classic pinstriped suit with an oversized bat-inspired bowtie. Its slender frame was meticulously designed with the Disney team to be proportional to the actual character, so it truly looks like the real deal.

The animated Halloween decoration plays three melodies from Jack’s Lament, a song from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack Skellington’s face is lit up by color-changing LED lights, so it’ll be visible even as dark October evenings creep in. When its motion sensor is activated, the animatronic’s head and jaw move and it recites lines from the famous film. As if it couldn’t get any more life-like, you have the option of swapping out his face plate to go from friendly to sinister, depending on your Halloween vibe. Just don’t be surprised when your house becomes the favorite among trick-or-treaters!

In addition to the Pumpkin King, The Home Depot is selling other Disney pieces to display outdoors this Halloween. For Hocus Pocus fans, there’s the 5-foot LED inflatable featuring the Sanderson sisters. Mickey and Minnie got a spooky makeover with 3.5-foot LED inflatables. And a 7-foot LED Ursula inflatable will delight The Little Mermaid fanatics. But if you want to keep The Nightmare Before Christmas theme going, shop the 13.5-foot Oogie Boogie archway, 3.5-foot LED Oogie Boogie inflatable and 4.3-foot LED Zero inflatable.

How to Set Up the Jack Skellington Decoration

Built to stand up to the outdoor elements, the 13-foot Jack Skellington takes about 40 minutes and two people to put together. Its animated features come to life once the animatronic is plugged into an outlet, and it weighs a total of 44 pounds. The Halloween decoration comes with detailed instructions for easy assembly and operation, and there’s a video available online to make the process even easier.

Where to Buy the Jack Skellington Decoration

You can shop the sure-to-sell-out 13-foot Jack Skellington exclusively at The Home Depot for $399. This is just the beginning of what the retailer has to offer for October 31, so be sure to check out more from The Home Depot’s Halloween collection, like the 9-foot Predator of the Night.

It’s that time of year again when new Halloween decorations are introduced for your spooky pleasure. The Home Depot is known for its larger-than-life pieces that standout and, oftentimes, tower over your home. Hello, viral 12-foot skeleton!

This year, the retailer has introduced new scary friends, including the most terrifying creation to date: a 9-foot Predator of the Night, complete with glowing eyes and giant wings. Read on—if you dare.

Shop Now

What is the Predator of the Night decoration?

The only thing more impressive than the Predator of the Night’s 9-foot height is its 12.5-foot-wide (!!!) wingspan. That makes it the widest Halloween prop ever created by The Home Depot. It’ll truly dominate your yard and cause passersby to think twice about getting too close. Think of this piece as a frightening creature straight form the underworld.

When it comes to making a decoration scream-worthy, it’s all about the details. The demonic beast has large ears, pointed teeth, long fingernails and toenails and bone and vein details. This animated piece features servo motors to mimic life-like head movements. Plus, it boasts bright LED lights to offer glowing red eyes, mouth and wings. The creature’s posable arms allow you to point them up or down or somewhere in between, and quality construction ensures they’ll hold their position all the way through Halloween night. It even plays eerie shriek sounds. If this decoration isn’t enough to scare trick-or-treaters, we aren’t sure what will!

The Predator of the Night piece is part of The Home Depot’s Dead Water collection, which also includes the 7.5-foot marsh monster, 8-foot LED jack-o’-lantern stack and 7-foot animated Lethal Lily Witch—among other nightmare fuel.

How to Set Up the Predator of the Night Decoration

A giant decoration needs the proper structure to hold it down through rain, wind and other unpredictable fall weather. The Predator of the Night comes with a stand with stakes to hold it in place. Keep in mind that it needs to be plugged in order to enjoy all of its frightening features. The Home Depot suggests that it takes about 60 minutes and two people to set up the satanic spawn, but your efforts will be worth it once the huge piece is on display.

Where to Buy the Predator of the Night Decoration

The only place you can shop the Predator of the Night piece, as it’s part of the in-house brand, Home Accents Holiday, is at The Home Depot for $349. If you’re even thinking about snagging this terrifying decoration, don’t delay adding to cart. The Home Depot’s giant Halloween offerings, like the 13-foot Jack Skellington, tend to (unsurprisingly) sell out quickly. Happy Halloween!

Thanksgiving is all about tradition, so you’ll never find me snarking at the classics, like a perfectly roasted turkey or creamy mashed potatoes—or finishing with a picturesque pumpkin pie. However, as much as I’m into the beloved basics, I’m not opposed to spicing it up with new options on the table. And if you’re considering the same, let the PieCaken be the addition you try this year. I guarantee your guests have never had anything quite like this four-in-one dessert (I certainly hadn’t).

What is the PieCaken?

The Original PieCaken from PieCaken Bakeshop combines four desserts into each slice. It starts with pecan pie on the bottom, pumpkin pie in the middle and spice cake on top. Cinnamon buttercream is found between each layer and covers the outside of the creation with an oat crumble. It’s finished off with apple pie filling on the very top. With each slice, you get multiple desserts, meaning you’ll never have to choose between pies ever again (but I hope you never were, anyway).

Piecaken with a Slice on PlateVIA MERCHANT

I Tried It

Original PieCaken

The PieCaken is four desserts in one, comprised of pecan pie, pumpkin pie, spice cake and apple pie filling.

PieCaken Features

The PieCaken is 7 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall, weighing in at nearly 6 pounds. Each one serves about 10 to 12 people, so there’s sure to be plenty for your Thanksgiving celebration. After slicing into the PieCaken myself, I can say with certainty that you can get at least 12 slices out of it. However, since it’s such a rich, filling dessert, I don’t doubt you could get a few extra slices if you’re more conservative with your cuts.

How We Tested It

Diving into a Thanksgiving dessert of this caliber is not for the weak, so I threw on my stretchy pants and got to work like the serious journalist that I am. My PieCaken was delivered frozen and with dry ice via Goldbelly—in a quick two days, might I add. I unpacked it from its boxes and followed the instructions by leaving it in its original wrapping and placing it in the fridge to let it defrost overnight. I received the PieCaken on a Thursday, but I didn’t cut it open until Sunday evening. According to Goldbelly, I could’ve refrigerated the dessert for up to seven days or placed it in the freezer for up to three months, so I was well within the time period for optimal freshness.

Once I admired the beauty, I was ready to cut open the four-in-one dessert. Right off the bat, I was surprised that the PieCaken held together so well. I was concerned that the many layers would result in a mashup on my plate, but each pie, cake and frosting layer was distinct, and the outside didn’t get damaged during delivery.

Testing Each Layer

I first tasted each layer separately, starting with the pecan pie. Now, I’m not a fan of pecan pie (normally), but this didn’t have an overwhelming nutty flavor, so I enjoyed it. As a pumpkin pie fan, that’s the layer I was looking forward to the most, and wow, it delivered. It was smooth and flavorful, without an intense cinnamon flavor. The spice cake was a little bit on the dry side, but the spice aspect really came through and was almost a palate cleanser for the rest of the dessert.

The apple pie filling on top, while not plentiful, was a nice way to finish off the treat and held its own in the flavor department. The star in my eyes, however, was the cinnamon buttercream. It was so smooth and had the right amount of sweetness. Seriously, I could have scrapped the frosting off each layer with a spoon and been happy.

The pecan pie and pumpkin pie each have their own crust, which you’d think would get a bit soggy over time, but I didn’t experience that at all. The crusts had a nice bite and really made the pie layers shine.

My two favorite layers were the pumpkin pie and cinnamon buttercream, so eating them together was a true treat. The PieCaken allowed me to make my own special bites of different desserts I wouldn’t have normally put together on the same utensil.

Serving Size

I will say that the PieCaken is rich—that’s why I said earlier on that I can see it serving more than 12 people because you might not even need your usual-sized slice. I had half of the suggested serving size, and it was enough to satisfy my sweet tooth (though I did contemplate going back for seconds for that pumpkin pie and cinnamon buttercream combo).

I also cut myself a slice two days after opening the dessert from its original packaging—hey, I take my role as PieCaken Taster™ very seriously—and the layers were just as fresh. The only difference was that the spice cake seemed a little drier, but otherwise, I had no complaints. I also had family members try it two days after opening, and no one pointed out any freshness issues. What I found interesting, however, is that everyone had a different favorite part. My husband was all about the cinnamon buttercream, my mom loved the spice cake with the cinnamon buttercream and my stepdad and my older brother were pumpkin pie fans.

Since there are a lot of components to this dessert, you might be thinking that it’s too much. Why not just leave them separate? It’s gimmicky! But, dear reader, I don’t think that’s the case. It’s fun, it’s different and since each layer is so distinct, you’re not just getting a mush on your plate. It’s not just an Instagram-worthy moment—though it’s pretty enough to grace your feed—and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the first dessert to disappear on your Thanksgiving table. It’s one of those “I have to try it” situations.

FAQ

Where did the PieCaken originate?

Zac Young, a pastry chef, created the PieCaken in 2015. “The Turducken of Cakes,” as it’s called, was never meant to be a retail item, but just a special for a restaurant in a New York City hotel. It was a hit overnight and people began asking if they could order an entire cake. The rest is history.

How do you store the PieCaken?

The dessert is shipped frozen with dry ice. You can place the PieCaken (in its original packaging) in the refrigerator for up to seven days or in the freezer for up to three months.

How do you serve the PieCaken?

When you’re getting ready to cut into this beauty, allow the frozen PieCaken to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. By the next day, you’ll be greeted with a ready-to-slice-into dessert.

What Other Reviewers Had to Say

If you’re a bit skeptical that a single cake comprised of multiple desserts could live up to the hype, see what other real-life tasters have to say about the PieCaken:

“I think this PieCaken was the BEST dessert I’ve put in my mouth. Huge HIT!!! Perfection inside this dessert,” writes Cindy F., a verified purchaser.

Patricia J., another verified buyer, shares, “Everything went well! The delivery [was] exactly on time, the storage to keep it fresh, the transport to the family gathering, the appearance, the taste—all were superb. Couldn’t have asked for a better product.”

“Oh, my goodness! One of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten. I honestly thought the combination sounded kind of gross, but we were so very pleasantly surprised. Truly outstanding,” writes James E., a confirmed buyer.

Product Comparison

While the Original PieCaken can be enjoyed throughout the festive season, PieCaken Bakeshop makes a range of other tiered desserts designed for other holidays. (Sadly, we shouldn’t expect a Halloween-specific PieCaken in our future, as Young says that holiday is meant to be celebrated with candy.)

 • The St. PatCaken: whiskey pecan pie, Bailey’s cheesecake, Guinness green velvet cake and salted caramel buttercream
 • The PassCaken: matzo-crusted coconut macaroon pie, flourless chocolate cake with raspberry mousse and gold-coated chocolate and sea salt matzo crumble
 • The Red, White & Blueberry PieCaken: red velvet cake, vanilla cheesecake, wild blueberry pie and lemon frosting
 • The Christmas PieCaken: chocolate pecan pie, eggnog cheesecake, red velvet cake, cherry pie filling and ameretto butter cream
 • The Strawberry Lemon PieCaken: lemon cake, strawberry swirl cheesecake, zesty lemon frosting and strawberry rhubarb pie
 • The Red Velvet PieCaken: chocolate pecan pie, vanilla cheesecake, red velvet cake and strawberry-champagne buttercream

Final Verdict

No matter where you wind up this Thanksgiving, there’s sure to be all the usual suspects come dessert time. But if you’re looking for a standout piece that’ll have family and friends flocking for a slice, look no further than the PieCaken. It may seem a bit gimmicky, but it’s truly (and surprisingly) delicious. Plus, you can’t get much more festive than this!
