There may be a chill in the air right now, but it’s never too cold for ice cream. DQ’s February Blizzard of the Month was a Triple Truffle Blizzard, bursting with peanut butter, fudge and caramel. You can still grab that one for your valentine (or yourself), but now the Dairy Queen Blizzard of the Month for March is here and we’re obsessed with its minty fresh goodness.

The Mint Oreo Blizzard will not be returning, but we’ll have something equally delicious: the Mint Brownie Blizzard! Plus, a brand-new dipped cone and a special St. Paddy’s Day treat!

Churro-Dipped Cones Are Officially On the DQ Menu!

If you’ve ever dreamt of a fusion of churros and ice cream, DQ now has you covered! The release of their new churro-dipped cones offers the classic DQ vanilla soft serve topped with a mouthwatering churro-flavored coating and cinnamon sugar. I mean, this is seriously a dream dessert.

After some successful trials of the cone within the past few years, the treat is now available at all DQ locations nationwide! We know we’ll be running to get ours, and they even come in four sizes—kid, small, medium or large.

Everything We Know About the March Blizzard

It’s an indulgent treat made with rich, chocolaty brownie pieces and Dairy Queen’s signature vanilla soft serve, all wrapped in cool mint. True to form, its green hue is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day—and honestly, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate!

That’s not all—a new Under the Rainbow Shake arrives for this St. Paddy’s season as well. This treat combines vanilla soft serve, strawberry flavor and rainbow sprinkles for a treat that reminds us of a pink McDonald’s Shamrock Shake in all the best ways. Talk about the luck of the Irish!

When Can I Grab It?

You don’t have to wait long to taste the Mint Brownie Blizzard and Under the Rainbow Shake—head straight to your nearest Dairy Queen. DQ is notorious for launching its seasonal flavors early, and these are no exception. Both delectable desserts are already available at participating DQ locations.

As for the new cone, it’s already available so you can pick that up at DQ, too! However, there’s no official timeline for how long it will be available, so you’ll want to get yours fast!

These Slow Cooker Liners Make Kitchen Cleanup a Breeze https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/skip-dinner-cleanup-with-slow-cooker-liners/ https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/skip-dinner-cleanup-with-slow-cooker-liners/#respond Wed, 09 Mar 2022 12:34:34 +0000 http://www.tasteofhome.com/?p=368478 From mouthwatering roasts to luscious cheesecakes, is there anything your slow cooker can't do? Well, we have yet to find a slow cooker that can clean itself! Luckily, these liners make the job easy.

After making a melty mess with your famous slow-cooker mac and cheese, you’ve probably told yourself, “The insert just needs to soak overnight.” But thanks to slow cooker liners, you no longer have to donate counter space for an entire day before you can scrub everything clean. This simple hack does all of the cleanup for you!

Behold, Slow Cooker Liners!

These not-so-ordinary plastic bags could ultimately change the way you cook forever. By using slow cooker liners, you’ll turn cleanup into a 5-second process. Picture this: After your next party, you’re just about ready to head up to bed when you turn to see a slow cooker with the remnants of that delicious cheddar bacon dip. Well, boo. Instead of bringing out the big guns to scrape off every bit of dried cheese, you can simply remove the liner, throw it away and hit the sack. That’s it!

But isn’t cooking with plastic bad for you?

You’re in the clear: The Food and Drug Administration has approved slow cooker liners. They’re BPA-free and they don’t affect the flavor of your food. Made of heavy-duty plastic, these liners are designed to withstand hot temperatures and long cook times, much like parchment paper. So, please don’t reach for just any plastic bag!

Psst! If you’ve jumped onto the air frying craze, we have good news for you! Air fryer liners are also available.

Where can you buy slow cooker liners?

If you’re eager to try this cooking hack, you’ll be able to make no-hassle dishes morning, noon and night (like these easy slow cooker recipes prepped in just 15 minutes!). So, try a liner and spend less time over the sink scrubbing. After all, the whole point of using your slow cooker is to save time and relax!  Slow cooker liners are for sale at Target, Walmart and Amazon.

2 Medium Pizzas vs. 1 Large—What’s Actually Better? https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/2-medium-pizzas-vs-1-large/ https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/2-medium-pizzas-vs-1-large/#respond Thu, 03 Feb 2022 15:41:14 +0000 https://www.tasteofhome.com/?p=1737818 It sounds enticing to buy two medium pizzas at a discount, but you knead to know the math.

You’ve seen countless deals from the best pizza chains—like two medium pizzas for $5.99 each. If a large pizza is $11.99, the two medium pizzas definitely sound better. But have we been taken in by clever marketing when it comes to two medium pizzas vs. one large? This viral Reddit post has the internet convinced that one large pizza is better than two mediums, but it assumes that a large pizza is an 18-inch pie. That doesn’t sound right—so we researched standard pizza sizes and did the math.

See what your pizza delivery person isn’t telling you.

2 Mediums vs. 1 Large: Here’s the Math

The standard medium pizza is usually a 12-inch circle, whereas a standard large pizza is a 14-inch circle. It seems like you’ll have nearly twice as much pizza for roughly the same price if you order two mediums.

Let’s do the math before your next movie night to confirm.

A 12-inch medium pizza is traditionally cut into eight slices and serves two people. A 14-inch large pizza is cut into eight slices and will serve two or three people. You’re going to have way more pizza with two 12-inch mediums! But don’t take our word for it—let’s take a look at a standard equation from our grade school days.

The calculation to determine the area of a circle is πr², where ‘r’ represents the radius (half of the diameter).

To calculate the area of one large 14-inch pizza:

First, find the radius: 14-inch divided by two is seven.

Then, 7² is 49. 49 x π is 154-inch² of pizza.

To calculate the area of two medium 12-inch pizzas:

First, find the radius: 12-inch divided by two is six.

Then, 6² is 36. 36 x π is 113-inch², multiplied by two for a total of 226-inch² of pizza.

There’s no denying the numbers! The math proves that two 12-inch medium pizzas have a larger overall surface area than one 14-inch large pie.

Does the math always work?

The standard size for most pizza chains is a 12-inch medium and a 14-inch large. But some chains may have a 16-inch or 18-inch large size. If you can order an 18-inch pizza for the price of two medium pizzas, that’s going to be a better deal. And keep in mind, if you’re ordering a rectangular regional pizza style, that might throw off the math.
