How do I choose a recipe book?
Some recipe books are super simple with mostly blank space to organize as you please. Others have specific sections for ingredients, oven temperature and other good-to-knows. Another consideration is how many pages you’ll need. You’ll also want to think about how the book stays open. More compact versions won’t stay open on their own, which can make it difficult to follow along with a recipe as you’re cooking. So, think about how convenient it is to read. That’s when a recipe box could come in handy, because you can simply pull out the recipe you’re making and not have to fiddle with the rest.
What is the best size for a recipe book?
This is a personal preference, so it depends on what size you need to easily read a recipe while you’re cooking. Consider where you’re planning on storing it between uses. If you want something you can toss in a drawer, go for something smaller. If you want to display your recipe book on a stand and leave it on your countertop to double as a décor piece, you can select something grander.
What order should a recipe book go in?
You certainly don’t have to organize your recipe book any which way. After all, you may be adding in new ones as you find them and not all at once. But if you want to organize it, go in the order you eat a meal: appetizers, soups and salads, entrees, side dishes and desserts.
How many recipes should a recipe book have?
That all depends on you! You don’t want to start a recipe book that offers 30 pages when you know you already have 20 and plan to continue adding to it. On the flip side, you don’t want a recipe book with 500 pages when that isn’t your goal. If you’re unsure, 100 pages should give you room to grow.
