Step 1: Cream the butter and sugar
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or grease it with cooking spray.
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy and well combined.
Step 2: Add the flour
Mix in all of the flour until the mixture is crumbly. Use your hands to finish mixing and bring together the dough.
Step 3: Scoop and bake
Use a cookie dough scoop to divide the dough into small balls. Gently roll the dough for each cookie, and slightly flatten it in your hands. If you plan to use sprinkles, pour them into a shallow bowl and dip one side of the cookies in the sprinkles.
Place the discs of dough on the prepared cookie sheet spaced evenly apart, as these cookies do spread while baking. Bake the cookies for 14 minutes until lightly golden brown. Once the cookies are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on the stovetop for five minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
