Blackened doesn't mean burnt. It means shrimp that are so flavorful, you'll want to use them in everything! Here's how to make blackened shrimp with homemade blackened seasoning.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1-1/2 pounds uncooked shrimp (26-30 per pound), peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Lemon wedges
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the first 8 ingredients. Add shrimp; toss to coat.
- In a large cast iron or heavy-duty skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook and stir until shrimp turn pink and edges are browned. Serve with lemon wedges.
