
Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookies

These easy chocolate chip sugar cookies are pillowy little dreams. They’re incredibly soft and light, with the perfect amount of mini chocolate chips studded throughout.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Shape dough into 1-in. balls. Roll in remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until edges are very lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
