This old-fashioned American goulash recipe is a savory, satisfying dinner that cooks up in a single pot.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1-1/4 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional
- Chopped fresh parsley, optional
Directions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium-high heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender, 4-5 minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles; drain.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings; bring to a boil. Stir in macaroni. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until macaroni is tender, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. If desired, sprinkle with cheese. Cover and let stand until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. If desired, top with parsley.
