Pulled Pork

Juicy pulled pork is a breeze when your slow cooker does all the hard work—no smoker required! Our best pulled pork recipe features a fork-tender shoulder roast in a sweet and savory sauce that's perfect for sandwiches and more.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 boneless pork shoulder butt roast (4 pounds), halved
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-1/2 cups barbecue sauce

Directions

  1. Whisk together first 8 ingredients in a 6-qt. slow cooker. Add pork, onion and garlic; stir to coat. Cook, covered, on low until tender, 7-8 hours.
  2. Remove roast; discard cooking juices. Shred pork with 2 forks. Return pork to slow cooker. Pour barbeque sauce over pork. Cook, covered, on high until heated through, about 30 minutes longer.
