Instant Pot Chicken Soup FAQ

How do you keep soup from burning in an Instant Pot?

Because soups usually have plenty of liquid, the majority of these recipes are safe from burning during the cooking process. However, if you’re making a soup that has a saute step, be sure that you are stirring the ingredients as directed. Scrape up any brown bits from the bottom of the pot after adding liquid, and before proceeding to the pressure-cooking step. Also, make sure your Instant Pot is sitting on a level surface.

How full can you fill an Instant Pot with soup?

Most pressure cookers have a “maximum fill line” marked on the inside of the cooking pot. Find it, and do not exceed it.

Should I use the Instant Pot soup setting?

Some pressure cooker models have a soup setting, while others do not. None of our recipes specify using that setting. If a recipe calls for a mode that your particular pot doesn’t have, check your manual for more info, so you can adjust the directions to fit your machine. For instance, when a recipe suggests using “manual mode,” it’s the same thing as pressure-cooking on high.
