Even more so when there's a new product <em>category<\/em>.\r\n\r\nAnd in 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-9070496-15735306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruggable<\/a> changed the way we think about floor care by popularizing machine-washable rugs. These beauties are stylish and plush\u2014with the added bonus of easy cleanup. But do they really live up to the hype? And are they truly as easy to clean as their marketing claims?\r\n\r\nWe tested six Ruggable products over the course of two years to find out.\r\n<h2>What is Ruggable?<\/h2>\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2118160\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Box_Katie-Bandurski_01_DKedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"A Ruggable box package lying on the floor.\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-9070496-15735306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruggable<\/a> is an online-only brand that specializes in machine-washable rugs. They offer options for every room of your house in every color and style imaginable, including special designer collaborations.\r\n\r\nRuggable rugs aren\u2019t just designed to tie a room together; they\u2019re meant to be durable. And when you have an active family, that\u2019s a huge bonus. After all, Ruggable was inspired by the pet mess that ruined its founder\u2019s expensive new rug\u2014so its products are designed with sturdiness and ease of cleaning in mind.\r\n\r\nIf you\u2019ve ever stained an area rug, you know they\u2019re a big pain to clean (if you can clean them at all). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/ruggable-rug\/\">Ruggable rugs<\/a> are different. They come in two parts: a pad and a removable top that\u2019s machine-washable and dryable! The pad is made of a nonslip, latex-free material\u2014think yoga mat\u2014while the rug cover is stain- and water-resistant, lightweight and designed to fit inside a washing machine.\r\n\r\nFor most Ruggable rugs, you can choose between four core cover and pad systems:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Flatwoven rug with a standard pad<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Flatwoven rug with a cushioned pad<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Tufted rug with a standard pad<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Tufted rug with a cushioned pad<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThinner, flatwoven Ruggable rugs are best for high-traffic areas that require a lot of durability, while the tufted or cushioned styles are ideal for bedrooms and living spaces where you want cushy comfort.\r\n<h2>How We Tested Ruggable<\/h2>\r\nTo date, we've officially put six Ruggable products through the paces: a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fwilder-burgundy-multicolor-medium-pile-rug%3Fsize%3D6x9%26system%3Drug-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6x9 tufted area rug<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Firis-apfel-birds-of-a-feather-medium-pile-rug%3Fsize%3D2.5x12%26system%3Drug-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2.5x12 tufted runner<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-8458360-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fgradasi-teal-quartz-rug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flatwoven kitchen rug<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmalta-multicolor-bath-mat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bath mat<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmorris-and-co-strawberry-thief-minor-indigo-doormat%3Fsize%3Ddoormat%26system%3Ddrm-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doormat<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Farcadia-multicolor-outdoor-rug%3Fsize%3D5x7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5x7 outdoor area rug<\/a>. Our editors tested these products both in our Milwaukee Testing Lab and in their own homes. We continue to evaluate each Ruggable product for durability and longevity via our long-term testing process.\r\n<h3>Ruggable Area Rug<\/h3>\r\nRuggable area rugs are the brand's bread and butter. They come in a wide array of sizes, from 2x3 to 10x14, as well as countless styles and colors. I've been testing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fwilder-burgundy-multicolor-medium-pile-rug%3Fsize%3D6x9%26system%3Drug-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6x9 Wilder Burgundy multicolor tufted rug<\/a> with a standard pad since October 2024.\r\n\r\nMy ordering and delivery process was seamless. However, I highly suggest you do a little research before adding a Ruggable area rug to your cart. Everything the brand offers is machine-washable, but not every size may fit in your home machine. The <a href=\"https:\/\/ruggable.com\/pages\/washing-machine-rug-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruggable Washing Machine Guide<\/a> breaks down the minimum washer size needed for both size and tuft level.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone wp-image-2118196 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Folded-Rug_Katie-Bandurski_01_DKedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable folded rug placed on the floor.\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nOnce the rug arrived, I was very impressed with the quality. The pile was nice and thick (again, I tested a tufted rug), and the design was very vibrant. It was a little tricky to assemble (especially without a helper!), so I suggest following the brand's set-up method rather than winging it.\r\n\r\nVisually, it was the piece I didn't know my living room was missing. Ruggable tied my space together in the best possible way. And, since I chose more of a fall-hued rug, I love that I can swap out the cover for different seasons. Talk about a way to make a statement! Plus, it's so thick and cozy underfoot, especially during Wisconsin winters. After months of use, it still looks brand new. I've noticed no pilling, fraying or wear spots.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2117922\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Rugs_Katie-Bandurski_03_SSedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"A vacuum cleaner cleaning a rug.\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nTo clean, I vacuum regularly with a soft-bristle attachment. Hair, dirt and debris come off with ease. Washing, however, is a little trickier. My machine ended up being slightly too small to safely fit the 6x9 tufted rug. (I'm hovering right around the 4-cubic foot size, and Ruggable suggests a minimum of 4.2-cubic feet.) Instead of risking a costly repair bill, I plan to take my rug to a laundromat. Still, just knowing that the rug cover is machine-washable provides immense peace of mind.\r\n\r\nContent Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/author\/emartincliffe\/\">Ellie Martin Cliffe<\/a> owns a few 6x9 flatwoven styles and finds that they're much easier to wash. \"The 6x9 fits fine and gets thoroughly clean in our front-loading washer,\" she says. \"We put it in our dryer on air-dry, which also works. If it\u2019s still a little damp, we\u2019ll drape it over a couch to let it dry all the way. I\u2019m impressed by how quickly they dry. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/ruggable-runner-review\/\">Ruggable runner<\/a> can warm up any space. Available in three sizes\u20142.5x7, 2.5x10 and 2.5x12\u2014there's an option for most any space. Plus, runners come in the same beautiful patterns and hues as Ruggable area rugs. I\u2019ve been testing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Firis-apfel-birds-of-a-feather-medium-pile-rug%3Fsize%3D2.5x12%26system%3Drug-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Firis-apfel-birds-of-a-feather-medium-pile-rug%3Fsize%3D2.5x12%26system%3Drug-sys\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">2.5\u00d712-foot tufted Iris Apfel Birds of a Feather runner<\/a>\u00a0with a standard pad since October 2024.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2113668\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Runner-Setup_Katie-Bandurski-for-TOH_03_PKedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable Runner Setup\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nMy out-of-the-box impressions were similar to the area rug I tested. Wow! What a stunner. The colors on this rug are exceptional, the perfect balance between bright and balanced. I found the runner was also much easier to set up: simply place the pad where you want it, roll up the cover, align the corners with about an inch of overhang and then gently unroll. When you're finished, smooth out any creases or air bubbles.\r\n\r\nAfter months of trodding on the runner, I've only noticed one downside: it creeps. Now, this is a common issue with runners. Just walking on them causes slight shifts to the side. It's not a huge deal, but we do re-center it down our hallway a few times a week as it likes to slide under our baseboard radiator or butt up against closet door thresholds. Rest assured, though, that the rug pad is still very sturdy. We never experience any sliding or slipping, just slow, annoying shifts.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2113667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Runner-Setup_Katie-Bandurski-for-TOH_05_PKedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable Runner Setup\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nWashing Ruggable runners is also easier. Even the largest, tufted size fits in my machine. Again, do consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/ruggable.com\/pages\/washing-machine-rug-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruggable Washing Machine Guide<\/a> before ordering, but most consumers shouldn't have any fit issues. All flatwoven runners fit in machines that are at least 2.2 cubic feet, and all tufted runners fit in machines greater than 3.8 cubic feet.\r\n\r\nI purposefully smeared the runner with ketchup, coffee and blueberries before washing, and each stain lifted right out\u2014even on a cold, gentle cycle. I used my dryer's lowest setting to dry, and frankly, it didn't help much. Be warned that tufted Ruggables soak up a lot of water. It tends to shift with daily foot traffic.\" image=\"2118155\" pr_name=\"Ruggable\" pr_url=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fcollections%2Frunner-rugs\" pr_display_text=\"Shop on Ruggable\" \/]\r\n<h3>Ruggable Kitchen Rug<\/h3>\r\nOur Product Testing Team went on a quest to find the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/collection\/best-kitchen-rugs\/\">best kitchen rug<\/a> in March 2024, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/ruggable-kitchen-rugs\/\">Ruggable kitchen rug<\/a> came out on top for its style and washability. While one of the pricier products we tried, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-8458360-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fgradasi-teal-quartz-rug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"www.jdoqocy.com\/click-8458360-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fgradasi-teal-quartz-rug\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">2x3 Gradasi Teal Quartz flatwoven rug <\/a>with a cushioned pad was also one of the comfiest.\r\n\r\nAfter evaluating the packaging, setting up the two-part system and even measuring the rug, we moved on to the most important test: standing on it! Executive Culinary Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/author\/sarah-farmer\/?\">Sarah Farmer<\/a> tried the Ruggable rug in the <em>Taste Recipes<\/em> Prep Kitchen for two to five hours a day.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2097609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Gradasi-Teal-Quartz-Rug_Annamarie-Higley_01_STedit-1.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable Gradasi Teal Quartz Rug\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\n\"Using the mat was a pleasant experience,\" Sarah says. \"I enjoyed standing on the mat during tasks like washing and drying dishes at the sink, prepping at my kitchen island and cooking on the stovetop. The mat offered a decent amount of cushioning, providing a soft and supportive base. I found it enhanced my overall comfort, particularly because my kitchen floor is ceramic tile, which tends to be cold and hard.\"\r\n\r\nIn addition to providing comfort, Sarah found that the Ruggable helped to ease aches and pains and even improve her posture. \u201cUsually, I notice a little strain on my hips after being on my feet on the tile flooring, prepping, cooking and on dish duty for several hours. However, after making sure I stood on the mat, I noticed I did not have that tinge of achiness in my feet, legs, back or joints. I think I was more aware of standing up straight and having good posture while on the mat. No slipping issues, either. When I needed to relocate the mat, I needed to lift it for repositioning versus just sliding it around with my foot.\u201d\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2097612\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Gradasi-Teal-Quartz-Rug_Annamarie-Higley_02_STedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable Gradasi Teal Quartz Rug\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nTo wash, rest assured that the 2x3 Ruggable cover will fit in any machine, regardless of the pile height. We smeared dirt, yogurt and olive oil into the rug cover, then removed it from its pad. Sarah also had a few stains after her testing\u2014including tomato sauce. They absorb too much water and get too heavy for the washer to handle. Luckily, there's a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/ruggable-bath-mat\/?\">Ruggable bath mat<\/a> that's specifically designed for machine cleaning. Nifty!\r\n\r\nWe've been testing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmalta-multicolor-bath-mat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"www.tkqlhce.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmalta-multicolor-bath-mat\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">Malta multicolor bath mat<\/a> since January 2024. Our Product Testing Team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familyhandyman.com\/list\/best-bath-mats\/\">tried 14 bath mats<\/a>, and Ruggable was named the \"best nonslip\" option.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2105599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Ruggable-Bath-Mat_TFHA_BathMats_013024_EF_0179.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Ruggable Bath Mat Tfha Bathmats 013024 Ef 0179\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nLike all Ruggables, the bath mat relies on a two-part system. The pad for the bath mat is made of a grippy, nonstick material that's surprisingly supportive. When placed on both vinyl and tile floors, the bath mat is rock solid. It doesn\u2019t slip at all! As far as absorbency goes, it takes about an hour and a half for the rug to dry out fully.\r\n\r\nTo clean, we once again intentionally dirtied the rug. We dabbed on three stains: toothpaste, dirt and oil-based lotion. After setting, we spot-treated each before tossing the rug pad in the wash. On a gentle, cold cycle, all three stains lifted out of the lightly colored mat, and we were impressed that it looked as good after cleaning as it did straight from the package.\r\n\r\n\"This is the most expensive bath mat we tested,\" shares Product Testing Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/author\/ahigley\/\">Annamarie Higley<\/a>. \"But Ruggable rugs have a lot of style, great grip, washability and absorbency, plus the pad is very supportive. Nothing on our list really compares!\"\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2105596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/TOHA25_Ruggable-Bath-Mat_Annamarie-Higley_02_SSedit.jpg?fit=700,1024\" alt=\"Toha25 Ruggable Bath Mat Annamarie Higley 02 Ssedit\" width=\"700\" height=\"1024\" \/>\r\n\r\nAfter in-office testing, Annamarie took the Ruggable bath mat home for continued testing. She's been standing on it daily for over a year.\u00a0\u201cI still don\u2019t have one negative thing to say about this product,\u201d Annamarie explains. \u201cSome people might view its pile height as a tripping hazard, but to me, it\u2019s a fair tradeoff for the comfort that the thick liner provides. Additionally, the rug has a gradual incline around the perimeter, mitigating some risk of tripping. The rug adheres well to my tile, so it stays in place. And I\u2019m still obsessed with the graphic design of the rug\u2014it looks so cute with my other chenille bath mat and pulls together my collection of hodge-podge towels.\u201d\r\n\r\n[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT superlative=\"We Tried It\" product_name=\"Ruggable Bath Mat\" short_description=\"Say goodbye to slips and skids! One of the brand's newer products is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/ruggable-doormat-review\/\">Ruggable doormat<\/a>. Yes, the cover is still removable and washable! But the pad gets upgraded to a thick, rubber base.\r\n\r\nI\u2019ve been testing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmorris-and-co-strawberry-thief-minor-indigo-doormat%3Fsize%3Ddoormat%26system%3Ddrm-sys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"www.jdoqocy.com\/click-9070496-15735306?url=https%3A%2F%2Fruggable.com%2Fproducts%2Fmorris-and-co-strawberry-thief-minor-indigo-doormat%3Fsize%3Ddoormat%26system%3Ddrm-sys\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">Morris &amp; Co. Strawberry Thief Minor Indigo doormat<\/a> since November 2024.\u00a0The mat required no assembly. Simply pull it out of the box and put it in place.
