A McCafe coffee. And not because it\u2019s unhealthy, nor because of its taste. Truth be told, it\u2019s the machines making the coffee that you should be worried about, one McDonald\u2019s employee revealed.\r\n\r\n\u201cI work for McDonald\u2019s and make sure everyone that matters to me never orders anything that comes out of the McCafe machine, as these are routinely neglected in practically all the McDonalds,\u201d the employee\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/Envirometh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said on Reddit<\/a>. \u201cAll McCafe beverages run through a horrifically dirty machine\u2014we\u2019re talking 5+ inches of uncleaned, liquid making up its inside parts.\u201d\r\n\r\nSounds pretty gross, right? And not only does the staff lack the appropriate training to clean and maintain the McCafe machines, but the managers do too, the employee said.\r\n\r\nThat\u2019s not the case for all McDonald\u2019s locations, though. \u201cWe had to clean the McCafe [machines] nightly,\u201d another employee\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AskReddit\/comments\/1z0fv1\/fast_food_workers_of_reddit_what_should_we_not\/cfq03mo\/?st=ja18343l&amp;sh=85812245\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said on Reddit<\/a>. The staff uses a cleaning kit, which includes brushes and a food-safe, all-purpose cleaner, to scrub away the coffee grounds. All in all, the process takes around 30 to 45 minutes.\r\n\r\nStill, the next time you\u2019re in the mood for a quick caffeine fix, you might want to opt for a beverage from a less suspicious source (like Starbucks or Dunkin\u2019 Donuts) instead. Just make sure to avoid\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd.com\/food\/fun\/drink-never-order-at-starbucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the one coffee you should never, ever order at Starbucks<\/a>.\r\n\r\nAs for us? We\u2019ll be sticking to a plain old Coca-Cola at Mickey D\u2019s from now on, thank you very much.
