A lot of wild rice is grown in our state, and every fall I drive up north to buy some from roadside stands. It always tastes so much better than the commercial brands in the store. This recipe is actually a combination of two recipes I received from friends. This was very good and just what I was looking for! I used just 1 pound of hamburger because that's what I had thawed out. I had seen another recipe with curry powder, so I added 1\/4 tsp of that as well. I didn't crush the bay leaf but just broke it into thirds for easy retrieval later. I used a can of beef consumme because I didn't have just concentrate broth and I wondered if they were one in the same. I also didn't have 2 cans of cream chicken so I used one can cream chicken and one can cream celery (I may have chosen this anyway since celery adds good flavor). I used just celery seed, onion powder, garlic powder vs. celery salt, onion salt, garlic salt, etc. I didn't add any salt and used low-sodium soy sauce but it turned out very salty. In the future, I will plan ahead and buy low-sodium soups. For this round, I'll just drink a lot of water! I also ended up cooking a bit longer - maybe 2.5 hours - until more liquid was absorbed. I served with popovers and a veg. Very good!
