So, when our former food stylist Shannon Roum brought in her homemade marinara recipe, we knew it was something special. What makes this the best canned marinara sauce?<\/h2>\n

Shannon created this recipe by combining\u00a0fresh-from-the-garden tomatoes and herbs with garlic, onions and tomato paste for a bright and balanced\u00a0sauce that the Test Kitchen couldn\u2019t stop raving about.<\/p>\n

She originally developed this recipe with a friend to make the most of a bumper crop of tomatoes. Because of this, Shannon likes to make huge batches\u2014we\u2019re talking 220 pounds of tomatoes huge\u2014which she cans and\u00a0gifts with a pound of\u00a0pasta around the\u00a0holidays. \u201cIt\u2019s just the thing where you know you have the best possible ingredients and you know you can feel good about giving it to your family,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s so much better than going to the store and buying something for somebody when instead you can give them a part of yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
