It was a very Good dish that I will make again. If you don\u2019t like peppers or mushrooms you can leave them out. You can saut\u00e9 them in oil or butter and serve it over the top of your own serving so picky eaters won\u2019t turn their nose. Snap peas, broccoli, bamboo shoots, and\/or carrots may also compliment this dish. However, picky eaters may not like these options either. Just make a plain casserole and serve veggies on the side to mix in. Let cool. If it is still too thin return to heat and add 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 tsp water in a cup. stir and add to sauce until thickened the way you want it to be.\n\nOf course you can double recipe. This works great with chicken or pork! You can use it for a basting sauce for chicken or pork ribs. \nI often saute pork or chicken cut into 1" pieces coated with corn starch until brown and no longer pink when you poke it with a fork.. Remove and saute favorite veggies, add meat , mix it up and then add some sauce. So easy! (If I coat meat pieces with cornstarch coating adding cornstarch to the sauce in the beginning is usually not necessary.) Veggies I usually use are onions, bell peppers, broccoli. Sometimes I add pineapple chunks and chopped tomatoes. just my preference...This is great over rice or noodles and so quick to put together! And the sauce keeps in refrigerator since there is vinegar in it. The only problem we had was that one person got heartburn from all the sugar so we won't be able to have it again.
