Call me crazy—but even in the midst of a polar vortex, I will crave ice cream. No matter the outside temp, nothing beats the smooth, creamy taste of my favorite frozen dessert. And while I have mostly switched over to healthier treats churned in my Ninja Creami, I still indulge in the real deal from time to time.
So when I heard that one of my favorite scoop shops offered an ice cream subscription, I knew I had to try it. Here’s everything you need to know about Jeni’s Pint Club.
If you like trying new dessert flavors, Pint Club is for you. Enjoy a mix of classic and eclectic tastes that will wow any ice cream lover.
An ice cream subscription is exactly what it sounds like. For 3, 6 or 12 months, a box of four assorted Jeni’s ice cream pints shows up at your doorstep. Offerings vary from month to month, but subscribers oftentimes get the inside scoop on new flavors before they’re released to the public. Expect a mix of ice creams, frozen yogurts and sorbet. Orders ship at the end of each month and are securely packed with dry ice.
Jeni’s sent me a Pint Club sample in January 2025. I had tried the brand’s offerings a few times before—at a Chicago scoop shop and in frozen pints bought from my local grocery store—but I was eager to try a wider variety of flavors.
Plus, I was very skeptical of the price point. A 3-month subscription costs $199. That’s over $16 a pint! I’m used to Jeni’s being on the pricier side, but could the convenience of an ice cream delivery really be worth the extra cost? Here’s my honest ice cream subscription review.
On a cold day in January, my Jeni’s order showed up at my doorstep. Inside was a large postcard explaining the brand’s story, and inside were six well-insulated pints packed in a styrofoam cooler and dry ice. Each ice cream was rock-solid with zero leakage. The instructions suggest putting the pints in the freezer for two hours before digging in.
Editor’s note: My press box came with six pints, so I could also try two up-and-coming flavors (Green Smoothie and Blueberry Johnny Cakes). A standard Pint Club shipment only includes four pints.
My Pint Club order included:
I was impressed with the wide array of flavors in my ice cream subscription box. The mix had a little bit of everything—chocolaty, fruity, salty and even savory. Plus, many of these were flavors I would not have picked out myself. Talk about a great way to widen your ice cream palate!
I started with the safest flavor: Brambleberry Crisp. I had actually tried this one before and adored the jammy mix of tart brambleberries and crunchy oat streusel, all interwoven with creamy vanilla ice cream. A clear winner.
Blackout Chocolate Cake was up next. This flavor takes chocolate ice cream to an unprecedented level. Layer after layer of chocolaty goodness hits your tongue with each spoonful. The ice cream itself is very dark, borderline bittersweet, then is enhanced with chocolate cake, gooey fudge and chocolate chips. It’s rich in the best possible way. Just a few bites of this ice cream left my sweet tooth fully satisfied.
Next, I reached for Maple-Soaked Pancakes. This was arguably the flavor I was least excited about. I’m not a huge breakfast person, and I can’t say I’d ever had pancake ice cream. Luckily, I was very, very wrong. This flavor proved to be my favorite! It tastes exactly as described, down to the soft pancake chunks, salty butter and maple syrup creams. You genuinely feel like you’re digging into a tall stack of flapjacks!
Finally, I closed out my tasting with a bite of Salty Caramel. The “fire-toasted sugar” description was spot on. This ice cream had a salty-sweet body with slightly burnt, caramelized notes. I likened it to a creme brulee. Even without a bevy of mix-ins, Jeni’s ice cream packs a flavorful punch!
After my initial taste test, I found myself grabbing bites of ice cream from the freezer throughout the week. Truly, just a spoonful or two was enough to satisfy any sweets cravings. While a serving size was 2/3 of a cup, I’m not sure I could eat that much in one sitting. It’s that decadent!
After a successful taste test, I was left to grapple with the big ol’ cookie in the cream: price. Again, there’s no denying that at roughly $16 a pint, this club is expensive. However, it’s a sweet gift for ice cream lovers and flavor fanatics. As a one-time treat, it’s absolutely worth the splurge, especially for serious Jeni’s fans who want to score access to new flavors.
For some families and couples, it might also be cheaper than a routine ice cream date. My husband and I’s favorite local shop charges $4 a scoop, plus more for cones and toppings. A dessert night can easily run $15+ for the two of us, which is on par with an ice cream subscription’s cost. Plus, you can’t beat the convenience.
That said, if you just want a tasty pint without the surprise factor, heading to a Jeni’s scoop shop or finding a grocery store stockist is likely the cheaper route.

You can order a Pint Club subscription directly through Jeni’s Ice Creams. A 3-month subscription costs $199, a 6-month costs $389 and a full year costs $759.
There’s no denying that this club is pricey. But for the high-quality ingredients, distinctive flavors and delivery convenience, it’s a worthwhile splurge. It also makes a great gift!
