On weekends, I jazz up our favorite BBQ sauce with berries. This blackberry-blueberry BBQ sauce makes a marvelous spread for basting and saucing grilled baby back ribs. —Janet Hix, Austin, Texas
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 to 2 cups barbecue sauce
Directions
- In a large saucepan, combine berries, sugar and water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 15-20 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in desired amount of barbecue sauce; cook 10-15 minutes longer or until thickened. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
