Make a vegan apple crisp with tart apples and a sweet, crumbly topping minus the dairy. This delightful recipe tastes just like the traditional version.
Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced peeled tart apples (about 3 medium)
- 1/3 granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/3 cup cold vegan butter-style sticks
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°. Toss apples with granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, salt and nutmeg; cut in vegan butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
- Bake until apples are tender, 30-35 minutes. Serve warm.
