It's truly a Goldilocks pan, combining elements of stainless steel, cast iron and nonstick. I love that it doesn't need to be babied—I can use sky-high temperatures and metal utensils, no problem.

I've tested the 8-, 10- and 12-inch pans with lids. This trio of sizes provides versatility for anything my husband and I can dream of cooking. I reach for the 8-inch pan to fry a few eggs or sear a veggie burger. The 10-inch gets the most use in our kitchen, charring veggies, wilting greens and reheating leftovers. The 12-inch has plenty of space for cooking big-batch meals, tossing pasta dishes and flipping pancakes.

"Hexclad

Best of all, these pans are a cinch to clean. While technically dishwasher safe, I prefer to hand-wash mine. And truly, it's a breeze. Even saucy, sticky, stuck-on bits from last night's dinner come off with a sponge, soap and water. On rare occasions, a pinch of Kosher salt will scrub away stubborn food with minimal elbow grease.

After over a year of use, the pan trio shows minimal signs of wear. The 8-inch has developed a few scuff marks on the bottom—likely the result of haphazardly using a knife or scissors to cut something while cooking. Oops! But it hasn't impacted performance at all.

Plus, I'm not the only staffer who loves these pans. Writer and cookware expert Allison Robicelli says in her HexClad skillet review: "HexClad cookware might be pricey, but it’s worth the money and will pay for itself 10 times over. Not only does the hybrid pan do the work of three other pans, but it’s also built to last. It might very well be the last pan you ever buy."

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Wok" pros="Deep walls make big-batch meal prep a breeze" pros1="Suitable for frying, searing, braising, steaming and more" pros2="Hybrid technology provides a nonstick cooking surface without sacrificing searing power" pros3="Safe to use with metal utensils" pros4="Oven- and dishwasher-safe" pros5="Three sizes available" cons="Lids sold separately" cons1="Very heavy when full" image="2029198" image_credit="KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2F12-hexclad-wok" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="Amazon" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W99LJBZ?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_display_text="Shop on Amazon" /]

Don't sleep on a wok—this versatile piece of cookware is not just for stir-fry. In the 15 months I've owned a HexClad wok, it's come in handy for cooking root veggie hash, rice dishes, frozen Trader Joe's meals, dumplings and pan-fried noodles. I haven't even scratched the surface of deep frying, braising, steaming and poaching—the uses are endless!

"Fried

I have the 12-inch wok with a glass lid, but you can also order a 10- and 14-inch version. Like the skillets, a HexClad wok gets nice and hot while providing a nonstick surface. What sets it apart from other cookware, like the Dutch oven, is its signature shape. The high walls protect your hands and stovetop from oil splatters when cooking on high heat.

Plus, the generous capacity allows for big-batch meals. I also love that the pan walls are a little cooler than the scorching hot bottom that's in direct contact with the stove. This makes it easy to protect fragile veggies from overcooking.

With over a year of use in my kitchen, I'm still impressed with the wok's versatility. Like the skillets, the pan looks and cooks as good as new. We love leftovers, so it's my go-to vessel for big-batch meals. My only complaint is that the pan gets really heavy when full.

Allison also reviewed the HexClad wok and agrees it's a one-pan wonder. "The HexClad wok is a stellar pan that can handle just about anything you care to throw at it, and it’s easy to clean, too," she says.

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Dutch Oven" pros="5-quart capacity ideal for soups, stews and pastas" pros1="Weighs less than traditional cast-iron Dutch ovens" pros2="Hybrid technology provides a nonstick cooking surface without sacrificing searing power" pros3="Safe to use with metal utensils" pros4="Oven- and dishwasher-safe" cons="Stainless steel surface is prone to smudging" cons1="Slight loss of nonstick coating after two years" image="2029166" image_credit="KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2F5qt-dutch-oven" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="Amazon" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRQKR394?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_display_text="Shop on Amazon" /]

The 5-quart Dutch oven was my introduction to HexClad hybrid cookware. I had previously only used ceramic or cast-iron ovens, and the HexClad was an ideal compromise. I immediately used it to pan-fry tofu and bake bread, but in the months that followed, it became the most versatile piece in my kitchen. Today, I continue to rely on this pan to boil water for pasta, simmer one-pot meals, stir together Rice Krispie treats, steam veggies and prep big-batch soups.

"Hexclad

Unlike ceramic, it's suitable for use on high heat and with metal utensils. Plus, the HexClad weighs considerably less compared to cast iron.

After two years of consistent use, the pan still looks pretty good. The coating has gotten slightly less nonstick. The lid has developed a stain that I can't get out, and the stainless steel exterior has gotten pretty grimy with hard water spots. (But that's easy to solve with some Bar Keeper's Friend and elbow grease.) You can get the full scoop in my HexClad Dutch oven review, but I anticipate this vessel lasting for many more years.

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Knife Set" pros="Incredibly sharp, durable knives" pros1="Heirloom quality" pros2="Beautiful green handle" pros3="Assortment of blades for any cooking task" cons="Magnetic block could be a little wider" cons1="Hand-wash only" image="1999489" image_credit="KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2F7pc-japanese-damascus-steel-knife-set" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="Amazon" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S9LMKVS?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_display_text="Shop on Amazon" /]

If I was forced to pick just one HexClad item to keep in my kitchen, it would be the 7-piece knife set. As I explain in my HexClad knives review, it took me years to upgrade my cheap, flimsy tools for a quality knife set, and the difference is night and day.

Made of Damascus steel, this set features an 8-inch chef's knife, 7-inch Santoku knife, 5-inch utility knife, 3.5-inch paring knife and 8-inch serrated bread knife, plus a honing steel and magnetic walnut knife block.

"Cutting

In over a year of daily use, I've found HexClad knives cut through even the most difficult foods, like butternut squash, as if they were, well, butter. The ergonomic handles feel comfortable in my petite hands, and there's a blade suitable for any cooking task.

They're also easy to clean. Even after some abuse—like forgetting to dry them after washing or leaving them covered in brownie crumbs for a few days—they easily wipe down. I also have noticed zero rust spots or handle cracks.

As an added bonus, HexClad knives are incredibly aesthetic. Many guests have commented on the magnetic knife block storage solution and the eye-catching green pakkawood handles.

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Pizza Steel" pros="Crisps pizza, fries, chicken nuggets and other eats to perfection (It replaced my air fryer!)" pros1="Oven-safe to 900 degrees" pros2="Hybrid technology provides a nonstick cooking surface without sacrificing searing power" pros3="Fits pizzas up to 14 inches wide" pros4="Dual handles make it easy to carry" cons="Hand-wash only" cons1="Not suitable for use with pizza cutters or knives" image="2034607" image_credit="KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2Fpizza-steel" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="Amazon" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D425JWWF?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_display_text="Shop on Amazon" /]

I removed the air fryer oven on my countertop six months ago, and I don't even miss it. The HexClad pizza steel works just as well to crisp up sweet potato fries, chicken nuggets, veggies, egg bites, frozen appetizers—you name it. It also transforms frozen pizza into restaurant-quality pies that rival those from my outdoor pizza oven.

"A

This 4.5-pound steel is oven-safe up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit and extremely versatile. Fast, even heating ensures foods get golden brown in record time. (I often pull my food out before the oven is even done preheating.) Plus, it includes the iconic HexClad technology that keeps food from sticking.

After a year, the HexClad pizza steel has graduated to "used daily" status. Seriously, I barely touch my baking sheets anymore because everything tastes better on the steel. I use it for pizza, of course. But I've found that charred veggies, browned tofu, flaky galettes and more bake to perfection.

Cleaning is easy, requiring just a simple swipe with a sponge. Just be sure to transfer to a pizza peel before cutting your pie, as the steel is not suitable for use with sharp utensils like pizza cutters.

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Cutting Board" pros="Hybrid, 2-in-1 design supports a variety of kitchen tasks" pros1="Sturdy and heavy" pros2="Beechwood protects knives and darkens beautifully over time" pros3="Removable stainless steel tray catches scraps and runoff" pros4="Handle makes for easy carry and clean-up" cons="Engraved hexagons on carving side may cause board to slide" cons1="Cleaning and seasoning may take more effort than plastic cutting boards" image="2118415" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2Fhexclad-hybrid-cutting-board" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BM4Z7V7H?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BM4Z7V7H?tag=tohmke-20&asc_refurl=https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/hexclad-cutting-board/?srsltid=AfmBOor7V5gJZNATpl-85Ha71PuMmfseRAUYdPrvTnJt9pR78UW8Fy3i&asc_source=https://www.google.com/" /]

If you're looking to ditch plastic in the kitchen, this hefty wood HexClad cutting board is up for jobs big and small. It's made of beechwood and has two sides: a beveled side with a runoff edge for carving roasts and a flat side with a built-in scrap container.

Product tester Mary Henn was immediately impressed with this board's size. "The board arrived in a classic HexClad drawstring storage bag—and let me tell you, lifting this thing out of the box was no joke," she writes in her HexClad cutting board review. "It’s a heavyweight cutting board, more than 2 inches thick."

"Hexclad

Mary intertwined it into her daily routine for months, using it to chop veggies, prep sandwiches and more. Her pitmaster husband often uses the engraved side to cut his cooked BBQ creations and holiday eats, like pork tenderloin or turkey.

"The stainless steel tray takes the board to the next level," Mary says. "On the cutting side, it slides in so it’s flush with the surface, allowing you to scrape onion tops, carrot peels and sandwich crusts to the side without making a mess. On the carving side, the tray flips to slide in just beneath the surface so that meat juices drain into it effortlessly."

The board does require more care than its plastic counterparts. After use, it should be washed and thoroughly dried, then seasoned occasionally with mineral oil.

[SINGLE_AFFILIATE_PRODUCT product_name="HexClad Griddle" pros="Slick, nonstick surface" pros1="Low edges make it easy to flip and move food around" pros2="Generally even heating" pros3="Oven-safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit" pros4="Safe for use with metal utensils" cons="Slightly uneven cooking, especially on smaller burners" image="2132753" pr_name="HexClad" pr_url="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=21679&awinaffid=622885&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fhexclad.com%2Fproducts%2F12-griddle-pan" pr_display_text="Shop on HexClad" retailers_2_name="Amazon" retailers_2_url="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQQVLZY7?tag=tohmke-20" retailers_2_display_text="Shop on Amazon" /]

Most people probably don't need a griddle pan in their kitchen. A large, shallow skillet will do just fine for most tasks. But if you love breakfast and frequently find the edge of your spatula getting in the way of pancakes or crepes, it's a worthy investment.

I've been using the HexClad griddle for about six months, and it features the same searing, browning and nonstick capabilities as the skillet. It has excellent heat distribution and crisps foods to golden brown perfection. So far, I've made pancakes, eggs in a basket and paninis. Nothing sticks!

"Hexclad

The barely-there edges of the griddle pan make flipping a breeze. I've also found I can fit more food on the griddle than in a comparably sized skillet. The part of the pan that's in direct contact with the burner does get a little hotter than the edges of the pan, but that's to be expected.

Like all other HexClad cookware on this list, cleanup is easy. Just wipe gently with a soapy sponge and you're good to go! Most food residue rinses right off.

What is HexClad?

There's a good chance you've already seen HexClad cookware on your FYP or in a demonstration at your local Costco. It's notoriously endorsed by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Admittedly, celebrity products typically make us skeptical. But just like the Drew Barrymore Walmart appliance line, HexClad really does live up to its claims.

What sets HexClad apart is its patented hybrid technology that allows you to sear steak and gently scramble eggs in the same pan. It requires a slight learning curve to get used to. Like cast iron, HexClad needs to be seasoned with oil before the first use and again if the nonstick performance starts to slip. (For most consumers, cooking with the pan regularly is enough to keep it in good shape.) Plus, you still need to use a small amount of fat when cooking. Otherwise, delicate foods like eggs will stick.

HexClad cookware is pricey, although it's on par with other brands like Caraway and All-Clad. Plus, you can frequently find HexClad sales, especially on product bundles.

What to Consider When Buying Cookware in 2025

“Consider cookware that matches your cooking style, not just your budget,” says Executive Culinary Director Sarah Farmer.

Ask: Is the cookware compatible with your stovetop? Do you plan to use the cookware for recipes that require finishing in the oven? If so, check the heat resistance. The limit for most nonstick pans is 500 degrees.

And if you’re on a save versus splurge budget, look for the heavier cookware in your price range, as it’s more durable and cooks more evenly than lightweight pieces. You might need to shell out a few more dollars, but the splurge is worth it in the long run.

HexClad Reviews: How We Found the Best HexClad Gear

To find the best HexClad gear, we started by researching the most popular products. Then, we called in samples and started using the products in our home kitchens on a daily basis. Each item was evaluated on the following criteria: packaging and delivery, first impressions, quality and durability, cleaning and value. Since cookware has a tendency to wear quickly, each item was thoroughly tested for at least six months before making any decisions.

I personally tested all the products in this roundup, but other Taste Recipes staffers, like writer Allison Robicelli and Product Testing Manager Annamarie Higley, tried select items in their kitchens, as well. Together, we compiled our experiences to identify the products worthy of a HexClad review.
