What is an ice cream subscription?

"Jenis

An ice cream subscription is exactly what it sounds like. For 3, 6 or 12 months, a box of four assorted Jeni's ice cream pints shows up at your doorstep. Offerings vary from month to month, but subscribers oftentimes get the inside scoop on new flavors before they're released to the public. Expect a mix of ice creams, frozen yogurts and sorbet. Orders ship at the end of each month and are securely packed with dry ice.

How We Tested Pint Club

Jeni's sent me a Pint Club sample in January 2025. I had tried the brand's offerings a few times before—at a Chicago scoop shop and in frozen pints bought from my local grocery store—but I was eager to try a wider variety of flavors.

Plus, I was very skeptical of the price point. A 3-month subscription costs $199. That's over $16 a pint! I'm used to Jeni's being on the pricier side, but could the convenience of an ice cream delivery really be worth the extra cost? Here's my honest ice cream subscription review.

Delivery and Unboxing

"Jenis

On a cold day in January, my Jeni's order showed up at my doorstep. Inside was a large postcard explaining the brand's story, and inside were six well-insulated pints packed in a styrofoam cooler and dry ice. Each ice cream was rock-solid with zero leakage. The instructions suggest putting the pints in the freezer for two hours before digging in.

"Jenis

Editor's note: My press box came with six pints, so I could also try two up-and-coming flavors (Green Smoothie and Blueberry Johnny Cakes). A standard Pint Club shipment only includes four pints.

My Pint Club order included:
