Springville Meat &amp; Cold Storage Co. recalled 15,388 pounds of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/springville-meat-cold-storage-co--inc--recalls-beef-jerky-beef-snack-stick-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beef jerky and beef snack sticks<\/a>. These products contain anchovies, but none of the labels indicated fish as an ingredient. As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from eating the beef jerky. Here's everything we know so far about the recall.\r\n<h2>What caused the recall?<\/h2>\r\nDuring routine inspections, the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered that the particular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/what-is-worcestershire-sauce\/\">Worcestershire sauce<\/a> used in this beef jerky recipe contained anchovies. The labels for these jerky products did not indicate that fish or anchovy was an ingredient. It's a big deal since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that all of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/media\/180903\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nine major allergens<\/a> be indicated on food labels.\r\n\r\nFor people with allergies, consuming products that contain these allergens can cause serious or life-threatening medical consequences. That's why the meat processing company has recalled all of the beef jerky and beef sticks. The company has also recalled its venison, elk and buffalo jerky products just to be safe.\r\n<h2>What stores sold the beef jerky?<\/h2>\r\nThere are no specific retailers or geographic locations listed on the recall. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is still investigating which stores sold the jerky. So, when the retailers have been identified, you will be able to find them posted on the USDA's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recall page<\/a>.\r\n<h2>How do I know if I have a recalled beef jerky?<\/h2>\r\nSpringville Meat &amp; Cold Storage Co., Inc., makes a\u00a0<em>lot<\/em> of jerky products, and this recall affects anything made between May 30, 2023 and May 30, 2025. All of the labels will have \"EST. 20528\" in the USDA mark of inspection on the package.
