From the bulk food deals to\u00a0cheap vacations, cars, and even insurance, Costco knows how to treat their members well. Especially when it comes to their dynamite return policy.\r\n<h3>Costco\u2019s generous return policy<\/h3>\r\nCostco <em>always <\/em>has the customer in mind and wants to guarantee that the customer feels fully satisfied with the product they are purchasing. So besides a few exceptions (no electronics after 90 days, diamonds needing authenticity after 48 hours, or cigarettes and alcohol), <a href=\"https:\/\/customerservice.costco.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/1191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Costco\u2019s return policy<\/a> is extremely generous. If you\u2019re not satisfied, they\u2019ll take it back.\r\n\r\n\u201cAt Costco, member service is an utmost priority,\u201d said one Costco spokesperson to <em>Taste Recipes<\/em>. \u201cWe strive to ensure members have an easy, efficient and pleasant shopping experience. Our generous return policy and 100% satisfaction guarantee\u00a0allow\u00a0us to provide excellent member service.\u201d\r\n\r\nAgain, Costco certainly knows how to treat their customers well through this return policy. But do customers know how to treat Costco with the same respect?\r\n<h3>Some customers are abusing it<\/h3>\r\nIt\u2019s probably safe to say that Costco\u2019s customers <em>do <\/em>treat Costco with the respect it deserves. Costco is all about giving shoppers the best deals and experiences, and people are always proud to show off their Costco receipts with the taunting phrase \u201clook how much I saved!\u201d But there will always be a few outliers who take a generous return policy like Costco\u2019s to their advantage.\r\n\r\n(While you're at it, also find out what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/why-does-costco-check-receipts\/\"><span class=\"s1\">receipt checkers at Costco<\/span><\/a> are looking for and<span class=\"s2\">\u00a0how to<b> <\/b>make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/costco-return-without-receipt\/\">Costco return without receipt<\/a>.)<\/span>\r\n\r\nAfter a small dive into a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Costco\/comments\/4b0yf8\/for_costco_employees_whats_the_most_outrageous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Reddit threads<\/a>, I was absolutely shocked to find out what customers have successfully returned to the store. Some people have seen soiled mattresses, decade-old boomboxes, empty bottles of wine (the complaint was how the wine gave her a \u201cheadache\u201d), half-eaten cake, and 10-year-old Kirkland Signature sneakers. One person even tried switching out the barcode of his new laptop and brought his old one back to Costco!\r\n\r\nCostco\u2019s workers certainly have seen some crazy returns, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/article\/costco-secrets-from-an-employee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they have a lot of secrets to share<\/a>.\r\n\r\n[dam-video dam-id=\"47955\"]\r\n<h3>It\u2019s a generous policy, but there\u2019s a catch<\/h3>\r\nAlthough employees accept most returns without batting an eye, some situations do raise eyebrows on Costco\u2019s end. <em>Business Insider<\/em> recently reported on a situation where one person tried returning a printer she bought in 2010. When the return was declined, the manager had to express that this wasn\u2019t the first time this particular customer had taken advantage of the return policy. After a bit of back and forth between this customer and Costco\u2019s corporate offices, she was able to return the printer\u2014but at the cost of her Costco membership, which was revoked.\r\n\r\nYes, Costco can actually revoke a membership if customers are abusing the return policy. In a statement to <em>Taste Recipes<\/em>, Costco said, \u201cmemberships may be\u00a0canceled\u00a0due to abuse of the Member Privileges and Conditions.\u201d\r\n\r\nShould this catch stop you from getting a Costco membership? Not in the slightest. If anything, Costco\u2019s policy is there to make sure your needs as a customer are fully satisfied.
