Then it\u2019s suddenly a few hours later, and you\u2019re carrying at least a dozen new items that you don\u2019t need (but just couldn\u2019t resist!) out the door. What gives?\r\n\r\nTurns out, science can explain why you can\u2019t help but spend too much time at your local Target store. And the reason is as simple as it is deceptive!\r\n\r\nUnlike other outlets, Target doesn\u2019t play music in the background while its customers shop. But because studies suggest that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rd.com\/health\/wellness\/happy-music-positive-memories\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listening to music<\/a>\u00a0increases your productivity, as well as your mood, shopping in silence, could have the opposite effect. A lack of background music could\u00a0lead you to wander aimlessly around the store, become distracted by something cute, and ultimately find more things that you need (read: want). Long story short? Your local Target\u2019s silence could be the culprit for your endless (and expensive!) shopping woes.\r\n\r\nBut that could all be changing soon. According to\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/twincities\/news\/2017\/06\/08\/now-playing-at-more-target-stores-background-music.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Minneapolis Business Journal<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>Target has begun to slowly integrate music into about 65 of its stores, with plans to triple that number by the end of the year. The retail giant will showcase a playlist that\u2019s \u201cupbeat, positive and has a playful personality,\u201d according to a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.delish.com\/food-news\/news\/a53619\/the-strange-thing-you-never-noticed-about-shopping-at-target\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Target spokesperson<\/a>.\r\n\r\nStill, unless one of your local stores is scheduled for a tune-up, try plugging in some headphones for a\u00a0speedy\u2014and wallet-friendly\u2014shopping
