I made several substitutions and a couple additions. My husband hates mayonnaise so I substituted cream cheese. I had sharp cheddar so I used that instead of cheddar. I had Ritz crackers instead of saltines so that worked very nicely. I had green onions instead of onions, so I used that. I added cauliflower that I had extra. I used a bit more fresh basil and fresh parsley than called for. It probably was too much parsley since that over took some of the taste. I skipped the hot sauce since my Minnesota family can\u2019t handle the spices. It turned out to be a very large bowl of vegetables in a cream cheese mixture, so I added bacon pieces to appease my meat-loving husband. I think it would have been just fine if not better without the bacon. Myself and my husband and three young adults all enjoyed it to my surprise since it was mostly healthy fresh vegetables. The topping was delicious, although was somewhat hard and crusty. I love this recipe in that you can simply add whatever vegetables you have on hand.
