But, for those of you who are looking at this recipe thinking, \"Oh, this looks yummy, but I don't have all of the ingredients,\" and you're hungry, here's what I did. (I'm SO grateful to have found this recipe.) I currently only have a toaster oven to cook in. I have a 1.5 qt casserole dish, a couple of utensils, and not much else. Using this wonderful recipe as a foundation, I greased my casserole dish and put a layer of three split chilis on the bottom. I sliced 1\/4 of an onion very, very, thin and put half of that on the chilis. (Yes, it was raw onion.) I had a 2 cup bag of shredded Mexican cheese blend (I don't have a grater right now) and put one third of that on top of the onions. I repeated with a layer of three chilis, the rest of the onions, one third of the cheese, and then topped with three more chilis and the rest of the cheese. I did not have milk, so used 1\/2 cup of cream and 1\/2 cup of water with the 4 eggs, salt and pepper. (I didn't have flour.) I poured that over, and it just filled the baking dish. Slid it carefully into my toaster oven, and baked for the specified time. Oh my goodness, it was so delicious! The egg mixture turned out like a custard, and there was so much flavor in this dish. I'm so grateful for this inspirational recipe when I was super hungry. I have leftovers.
