We already know that chocolate and peanut butter go together to make the perfect couple. We already know that Rice Krispy cereal bars are a delightful treat that we’ve enjoyed since childhood. So, the only real question is: “Why haven’t we put all of these things together yet!?” We answer that right now with these peanut butter chocolate bars.

Peanut butter chocolate Rice Krispies take that classic crunchy bit of goodness you loved as a kid up to the next level. And while these make a wonderful dessert treat that your kids will like, no one at any age will say no to a chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispy treat. Perhaps best of all, they require just five ingredients and take very little hands-on work.

In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup and peanut butter and cook over a medium-low heat. Stir regularly until the sugar has dissolved.

Remove the peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treats from the heat and stir in the cereal. Spread the mixture into a greased 13-inch by nine-inch pan, pressing it in lightly. Spread the melted chocolate over the top of the peanut butter cereal mixture and refrigerate it until set. Cut the chocolate peanut butter rice krispy treats into bars and enjoy.

These Rice Krispy treats with chocolate and peanut butter treats will taste best if they’re stored at room temperature. Use a container that can store the leftovers without leaving much extra space for air and consume them within seven days.

Yes, these bars can be frozen for up to three months and they will thaw to an edible temperature in just 30 minutes.

These bars need a lot of sugar and syrup. Turn to the peanut butter to cut sugar. Swap out the regular peanut butter for an all-natural peanut butter with no sugar added.

If you grease the pan properly it should lift out rather easily. Help from a spatula or butter knife run around the sides of the pan should make it easier. If you have trouble with the release, line the baking pan with parchment paper and grease that before pressing in the sticky rice mixture.

While plenty tasty on their own, no one will complain if there’s a scoop of ice cream on the side. They also taste surprisingly good with a cup of coffee or tea if you are serving the bars to an adult crowd.

You can make a batch of chocolate peanut
