We thought this was quite good. I halved the recipe and it worked well. I would have preferred a little thicker sauce, so next time will cut back on the broth for the sauce a bit. Will be making this again. I feel like anyone who didn't like this made it wrong. I have made this many times for many people and everyone is obsessed. I use kashmiri chilli instead and I pound my chicken and then saut\u00e9 my chicken in kosher salt and pepper and Irish butter before adding the sauce. I pour the sauce over the saut\u00e9ed chicken in butter so the butter goes into the sauce. Maybe it makes a difference. I also cook the chicken maybe 30-35 mins on low heat so it's really juicy and falls apart when you stick a fork in it. I flip it once or twice to make sure it really simmers in the sauce. I shred the chicken and put it back in the sauce. key is to get the sauce on all of the chicken. Everyone loves it so much. A little extra cheese in the grits helps too. Make sure to do a nice spoon of sour cream on top with your plating. I also use sweet mini heirloom tomatoes thinly sliced with a ceramic knife or other sweet mini tomatoes instead of large tomatoes.
