I thought these were really good! They are big 4\" flatter cookies and even though you'd think they are crispy because they are thinner, they stay on the softer\/chewy side. Follow the instructions and bake them 3\" apart to allow for the spread. I only baked 6 at a time and it worked out perfect. After the first try and loving them, I made again and reduced the chocolate chunks\/chips in half and there is still a lot of chocolate chips in each bite. (Anything to bring the calorie count down a bit!) I don't use shortening, but used 1\/2 butter and 1\/2 lite butter (I Can't Believe It's Not), and also reduced the brown sugar to 1 cup. You'd never know these revisions were made! But definitely increase the malted milk powder to 1 cup and if you use a chocolate powder, skip the chocolate syrup as it really doesn't do much for the cookie.
