Not quite a biscuit and definitely more like a muffin. I used White Lily self-rising flour and the only cheese I had was sharp cheddar. These were super-fast and easy to make, and I had to wait on the oven to reach temp it went that quickly. The flavor was okay, but I felt like it was missing that savory taste I craved like sausage would bring. The smoky ham flavor was good though so do use a good quality and flavor ham on this because it's the dominant profile. The cheese was just the right amount, and paired well with the ham, I feel like another cheese would also work if that's what you had on hand. I am the pickiest eater and very texture oriented so while these were fine, I would have preferred my ham to be sliced and in between two biscuit halves instead because I'd rather have the ham in every bite, rather than randomly. I might make these again, because they would be great for a large gathering and very kid friendly. I didn't use paper liners, I simply sprayed a silicone muffin pan with non-stick spray and continued. This would be easy to customize to your own preferences with cooked crumbled sausage, cooked bacon bits, sliced hot dogs, bell peppers, mushrooms, or whatever your heart desires to add in. Personally, I would add some cayenne pepper if I were only fixing these for myself.
