Beautiful cake! I used butter in the frosting instead of shortening. It wasn't pure white like the pictures but I like the way it tastes better than with shortening. I also added vanilla extract and almond extract to the batter, makes it taste more like home made instead of boxed! I wonder how it would be with a chocolate cake mix and vanilla Oreos instead? I recall making this cake when it was featured in Taste Recipes-in fact, I believe that I'd prepared it at least a couple of times!
