I've made baked beans with as many as 8-10 different kinds of canned beans. \n\nMy large rectangular cooker holds enough beans for a crowd - 50 people or so - as part of the spread at several parties at our local American Legion post. Simply multiply the amount of each ingredient by 4 for a small group (approx. 20) or by 10 for about 50 people. \n\nOne note - I prefer to limit the amount of ground beef (or omit it completely) and increase the amount of bacon. If you wish, substitute ground sausage (out of the casing) for the beef. A mixture of regular sausage and Italian sausage is delicious!","reviewRating":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Rating","ratingValue":5,"worstRating":1,"bestRating":5}},{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Review","datePublished":"2022-05-14","author":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Person","name":"Mary050"},"reviewBody":"Thank you Julie for an awesome recipe! I too am from Ohio, and my home town is on the Ohio River directly across from the Wild and Wonderful State of West Virginia. Like Melissa208, we grew up having pork and beans for supper sometimes too. They were usually served with bread and butter, but once in a while we'd get a package of hot dogs, cut them up and add them right into the beans. Good eatin'! Again Julie, thank you - I love this amazing recipe, and so does my family. Some people just don't know what they're missing. Can't wait to cook out this summer and spring this recipe on the crowd! I made this yesterday and both my husband and I loved it. I used a full pound of precooked ground beef and jarred bacon since I didn't have any regular bacon. Like others, I did not use white sugar; I increased the brown sugar a bit instead. I didn't have any butter beans, so subbed canned navy beans, and used red kidney beans since that's what I had. Rather than bake this in the oven, though, I cooked it for 3 hours or so in a crockpot. There's enough leftover for another meal, but I like that it can also be frozen if I change my mind.<\/p>","reviewRating":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Rating","ratingValue":5,"worstRating":1,"bestRating":5}},{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Review","datePublished":"2023-08-20","author":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Person","name":"jkjjj2009"},"reviewBody":"
