I doubled the recipe & added a little extra beef broth. It came out delicious!! To save time on cutting up the onions, peppers & celery, I used 2 pkg. Our family enjoys chicken and dumplings, so we were excited for this interesting take! The sauce it creates was very tasty. Took a bit longer than written to cook the dumplings, but steak was nice and tender. A solid slow cooker recipe. I will give this recipe 2 stars for simplicity and 0 stars for taste. It was totally flavorless and the dumplings were inedible. Since you aren't supposed to keep opening and closing the lid to see if the dumplings are done, I went with the recipe and you could have used them as tennis balls. We ended up throwing them away. My husband doctored up the leftovers with some actual seasonings (paprika, thyme and I don't know what else) and some onions and garlic and he said it was a great improvement. Still not great but better.
