Don't expect them to come out quite as perfect as in the picture, but that's OK. I had a time with the green dough; it rolled out very thin - I think you need at least a half cup. There must be 1,000 miniature chocolate chips in a third cup; you only need a couple of spoonfuls. Also slicing the cookies this thin is a challenge. You could make the dough roll a little longer for slightly smaller cookies and easier slicing. But they sure are cute!","reviewRating":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Rating","ratingValue":4,"worstRating":1,"bestRating":5}},{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Review","datePublished":"2013-07-04","author":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Person","name":"BlueDice"},"reviewBody":"My granddaughter and I made these for the 4th. I used margarine instead of butter and my dough was still soft after overnight refrigeration. Slicing was not easy. What have others used to slice the dough? This is a reply to a comment to Debby54 about slicing the cookies. What I use, to cut just about any rolled cookie, biscuits, rolls, etc., is to get a length of dental floss, maybe 18 or 20 inches long. Put the middle of the floss underneath the roll of cookie, or whatever, bring the ends of the floss straight up, crisscross them, put the one in your left hand into your right hand and the one in your right hand into your left hand, and pull quickly. The action of the crossing floss creates a scissor type action and cuts the cookie without flattening it out. Really simple, efficient and fun:)","CommentId":4,"DateRated":"07\/22\/2018 22:46","GUID":"057A1CB3C5BF442C92A48C70FFC57D69","MemberId":3587362,"Rating":0,"ScreenName":"pung","SubmittedDate":"07\/22\/2018 22:46"},{"Comment":"

Well, I haven't made these yet, but would like to try them for this year's 4th of July family picnic. I don't quite understand the instructions. #1. Is 3 1\/2 inches the measurement for the diameter or length of dough roll?<\/p>
#2. When attaching (short end) red to white, do you start to roll it up from the red end or the white end? The directions really need to be clarified or perhaps a video showing how to make.<\/p>","CommentId":6,"DateRated":"05\/28\/2018 19:42","GUID":"D0D5689281B84038BABB0C76C3343E20","MemberId":730520,"Rating":4,"ScreenName":"Ceege","SubmittedDate":"05\/28\/2018 19:42"},{"Comment":"

Tried these for Vacation Bible School. I used margarine instead of butter and my dough was still soft after overnight refrigeration. Slicing was not easy. What have others used to slice the dough? These cookies are cute and tasty.
