I have made these several times. The family loves them! The first time I made these I followed the recipe exactly. We thought they were pretty bland. Next time, instead of the canned tomatoes and tomato paste, I used some spaghetti sauce instead. We loved them! Basically, the spaghetti sauce makes it more of an Italian sloppy joe. Walmart has a thick sliced garlic bread, sold in their bakery section. (Not the frozen stuff.) Oh boy! That bread takes it over the top.
