When I was growing up, when mom baked bread, she also made a dough that was a bit sweeter for cinnamon rolls and other sweet pastries. One of my favorite ways she used this slightly sweeter dough was to pinch off a \"gob\" of the dough and deep fry it - we just called them dough gobs! When I traveled to New Orleans, LA a few years ago, I HAD to have beignets! They tasted JUST LIKE MOM's Dough Gobs!!!
