I use diet jello and put it on the bottom of a sprayed cake pan and let it set up. Next, I spread on the cream cheese layer using only 1\/2 cup sugar and lite cool whip and last of all I sprinkle on the pretzels which I have toasted (instead of pressing the pretzels on the bottom of the pan spread out a little bit on a cookie sheet and Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Take out of oven and cool , then break the mixture up and sprinkle on top.) I do it this way because then the pretzels don't get soft so soon. When making the orange version I also use pineapple tidbits so there isn't so much juice and the jello sets up better. We also like the texture better than all that crushed pineapple. I hope you like the changes but either way the recipe is a winner.","reviewRating":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Rating","ratingValue":3,"worstRating":1,"bestRating":5}},{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Review","datePublished":"2019-01-17","author":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"Person","name":"quiltpinky1"},"reviewBody":"I had made this with the strawberry version before but I love the orange!! I have experimented and used strawberries instead of oranges with strawberry gelatin and for Christmas this year I am going to substitute it with cherries and cherry gelatin. I have made the strawberry version many times because my grandson is extremely allergic to nuts and this gives him an idea of what eating nuts is like. This is so refreshing---could easily be served for dessert. The only issue I had was that the pretzel crust did not hold together well--it just fell apart when I served this. I am going to compare the pretzel crust here to the recipe I already have on file, and perhaps adjust the amount of sugar and\/or butter. My family really enjoyed the orange flavor theme.
