I made half a batch of these bars in a 7\" x 11\" pan. Not exactly sure what actually went wrong. It is good granola and I say that because when they were cool and I removed them from the pan they all crumbled apart. So instead of bars it was just granola....very good granola, though!!!<\/p>

I use slivered almonds, chop up the dried cranberries and dried apples. I mix up the coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds, and dried fruits. This makes sure the cranberries are not clumping together. I add the ingredients in this order:melted butter, honey, vanilla extract, brown sugar, cinnamon and then the egg. Next, I add all the dry ingredients except for the oat mixture. I mix this until well incorporated. Last, I add the oat mixture. I firmly press them in the pan with a metal spatula. The granola bars come out perfect every time. I cut the bars when cooled and place on waxed paper in a plastic container with a lid.
