I prepared this recipe and I adjusted it by using 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. baking soda. Instead of sour cream, I'd used a 5-oz. container of plain unflavored Greek yogurt. I'd sifted the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. I'd combined the water, cocoa, butter and peanut butter which I'd brought to a boil, stirring occasionally. In a large mixing bowl, I'd used my wire whisk attachment and beat the eggs, yogurt and vanilla together 5 minutes, added sifted flour mixture and beat 5 more minutes. I then added the chocolate mixture and beat 5 minutes on medium speed. I used two 8x8x2\" greased and floured baking pans and divided the batter equally among pans. I baked 30 to 35 minutes at 350oF. The cakes rose for me very well. I'd used a canister of whipped white frosting with 1\/2 cup creamy peanut butter, 1\/2 tsp. vanilla extract and about 2 tsp. water and up to 1 to 2 tsp. sweetened condensed milk. I DID use my wire whisk attachment with my mixer to blend the frosting, peanut butter, vanilla and liquids just to make the icing of reasonable spreading consistency!<\/p>

I did ice cakes. I decided NOT to sprinkle with the peanuts-I just frosted the cakes and after cooling, I placed the cooling rack with cakes in my refrigerator to allow the icing to firm up.<\/p>

On the whole, I think this recipe worked out very well and it is a great way to include peanut butter in a chocolate cake! Thank you for sharing this recipe with Taste Recipes!<\/p>
