I wrote a previous review stating that the flavor was just too overpowering and I didn't like it. I think the problem was that the meatballs I used were too high in salt (as most frozen pre-made meatballs are). I substituted my own meatballs this time and the dish tasted SO much better! I actually love it now! This go-around I added in diced red bell pepper, diced onion, and water chestnuts, which I sauteed before putting all ingredients together. So note to others - if you're a little sensitive to salt, watch out for the salt content in those pre-made meatballs!

@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Rating
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Review
2020-04-26
@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Person
CyanTag
We loved this combination of flavors. I only had large frozen meatballs but they worked well for an entree. Glazed well, leftovers more sticky and spicy.

Very fast and easy! I expected it to have a bit of a kick but this was not the case. I think a bit more Sriracha sauce should improve the flavor for us. Thanks for posting.

Really tasty! I loved the speed this could be assembled, not to mention family loved it. I doubled the sauce and used a 20oz pkg of meatballs.

Loved this. I did make my own meatballs but I used this sauce exactly and cooked as directed. Will make again!

These were great! They were very easy to make for a weeknight meal. I used a bit more Sriracha sauce and they had a bit more heat at the end. I also doubled the recipe. I did not use the sesame seed or onion....didn't need it. My 14 year old loves Quinoa and I served hers over that. The rest of us had them over rice. Awesome, will definitely make again! Thanks for sharing!

So easy to make after a long day - came together quickly and everyone loved it. I doubled the recipe, and there's barely enough leftover for one - family is already fighting over it! We'll see who wins. Thank you for this great recipe! Will definitely make again.

Excellent--both in taste and in ease and time spent to make. My husband really enjoyed it. I garnished it only with the green onion, didn't do the toasted sesame seed garnish. I served it over white rice. I will definitely be making this again and will share with both my daughters who are time-strapped at dinner time!

We enjoyed this recipe, but unlike brown19fan, I decreased the sugar. Since hosin sauce's first ingredient is sugar, I omitted the brown sugar. I used turkey meatballs and also used fresh ginger and garlic. The meatballs still glazed well. Since we had just eaten rice with several previous meals, I used Chinese noodles. The scallions and sesame seeds were very tasty garnishes. I also stir-fried some cabbage to go with the meal. I would definitely make these again.

These meatballs were great but my husband thought they would be better on a Hogue roll. Loved it!

Four thumbs up! Next time I will make sure to buy 1/2-ounce meatballs. I will also use less Sriracha and a bit more sugar.

I'm a lover of almost any Asian recipe and this one is GREAT! The flavors were spot on - not too spicy, yet not too sweet. I actually made this twice and used a standard teriyaki sauce in place of the hoisin sauce and it was equally great. My sauce didn't thicken and caramelize like the picture but it was still great served over rice. Husband and kids both had two helpings (which is usually rare!)

Browse Taste Recipes recipes by course, cooking style, cuisine, ingredient, holiday and more categories to find a new family-favorite recipe.
Wondering what to make?
